Toxic positivity is being overly positive to the point of invalidation.
There is nothing wrong with these phrases, or your intent to encourage one another. I use/have used these phrases.
The difference is that these aren’t a helpful one line response to someone’s pain. They avoid vulnerability and deeper connection. They can feel dismissive, and result in making others feel shame and guilt, rather than support, in working through their grief, addiction, stress, etc. and drawing nearer to Christ.
These are just a few of the many examples.
